Every day you share a bus, a lift or a queue with people you never speak to. Nitick turns those passing moments into a choice: say hello if you both want to.
Android 8.0 or newer · Adults 18+ · Works over Bluetooth, even with no internet
Why we are building it
Someone you would have liked to know sits across from you on the bus, and then the doors open and they are gone. Not because anyone was unfriendly, but because there was never a good, safe way to say “hi” that both people could say yes to.
Nitick is built for that moment. It does not track where you are and it does not put you on a map. It simply remembers who was near you, lets you look back later in your own time, and only connects you if both of you want to.
Nobody becomes your friend until you accept. You can decline, block or hide whenever you like.
No GPS. No map. Nearby phones see a nickname, an icon and an ID that changes every 15 minutes.
Meant to turn real moments into real friendships, not to keep you scrolling.
How it works
With the radar on, your phone quietly notices other Nitick users near you over Bluetooth. No internet needed, so it works in a lift or on a metro.
Later, when you are online, the Crossed tab lists everyone you passed today, newest first, with whatever they have chosen to share.
Say hi to someone you would like to know. If they accept, you are connected and you can see the details they keep for friends.
Send messages, photos and voice notes, react and reply, with a notification when a friend writes.
Your privacy
Nitick never uses your location. It only knows that your phone and another were close for a while.
The anonymous ID your phone broadcasts changes every 15 minutes, so nobody can follow you around.
For every detail on your profile (photo, bio, Instagram, phone) you choose who can see it.
Switch Visible off and you still see who is around, but they can no longer see you.
Nitick is for people aged 18 and over.
Block or report anyone, unfriend whenever you want, and sign out to remove everything from your phone.
Questions
Your phone uses Bluetooth Low Energy to send out a short anonymous ID and to listen for others nearby, like a quiet radio. That part needs no internet. When you are back online, the app matches the IDs it heard and shows who you crossed paths with.
No. Nitick does not use GPS and does not record where you are. It only notes that your phone and another were close for a while. On Android 11 and older, Android itself asks for the location permission before any app can scan for Bluetooth; Nitick does not read or store your location.
People near you see only your nickname and icon. People you have crossed paths with see the details you marked Public. Friends see the rest. You choose for every detail, and you can switch Visible off at any time.
No. Chat is only for friends, and nobody becomes your friend until you accept.
Yes. Nitick can only find people who also use it, so the more people on your route have it, the more you will cross paths.
The early-access version is free to download and use. It is Android only for now, and needs Android 8.0 or newer. There is no iPhone version yet.
Nitick is for adults aged 18 and over. You can block or report anyone from their profile or chat, and they are not told. We do not verify identities, so use the same care you would with anyone you meet for the first time, such as meeting in public places.
In the app, open Profile, scroll to Account and tap Delete account. If you cannot open the app, use the contact form and we will do it for you. See the delete account page for what is removed and what may be kept.

Checking the latest version…
This is an early-access build, so expect rough edges. Because it is not from Google Play yet, Android may show a warning before installing. Once installed, updates arrive inside the app.
